Intimacy Coordinator / Artist/ Director / Choreographer /
Western Sydney artist, Shondelle, is an internationally accredited intimacy director, coordinator and pedagog, choreographer, performer, teaching artist, director, theatre Maker and award-winning web series writer. She has worked with Australia's leading theatre companies including Opera Australia, Monkey Baa, CDP, Teg Dainty, Ensemble Theatre, Force Majeure, Pacific Opera, Ensemble Theatre, The Darlinghurst Theatre Company, NIDA, David Venn Productions, Squabbalogic, Gordon Frost, Disney, The Really Useful Company, NewTheatricals, New Ghost Theatre Company, Mad March Hare Theatre Company, Redline Productions, the Actors Centre, JMC Academy, AFTRS, Dinosaurus Productions and Aquarius Films. In 2019, Shondelle was in the UK working with Bamboozle Theatre Company as a Directing Fellow, thanks to the generosity of the Mike Walsh Fellowship. In 2020 Shondelle received a grant from the Australia Council to study Intimacy Coordination with Ita O'Brien. Shondelle completed her Intimacy Pedagogy and intimacy directing certification with Ita O'Brien and Intimacy On Set in the UK. She then went on to study intimacy coordination with Claire Warden and Marcus Watson from Intimacy Directors and Coordinators in the USA. in 2023, Shondelle was invited to the USA by Theatre Intimacy Education's Professor Chelsea Pace and Laura Rickard to participate in their Education Advocate Program, which focuses on best international practice in intimacy choreography. 20 international educators are chosen each year for the program. This was supported through the generosity of Create NSW and the American Arts Association. Shondelle's most recent intimacy work can be seen at NIDA in Frankenstein, adapted and directed by Dr Benjamin Schotakowski and the web series Pleasant Avenue directed by Aimée-Lee Xu Hsien. She is currently in rehearsals for 'Your Name' with Purple Tape Productions at KXT and onset for director Jordan Daly's feature film, Welcome to My Channel. Shondelle is a proud member of MEAA. She lives and works on the lands of the Dharawal People. |
