Intimacy Coordinator /Access Coordinator/ Artist / Director / Choreographer
Western Sydney interdisciplinary artist Shondelle, is an internationally certified intimacy director, coordinator and pedagogue through Intimacy on Set (UK) and Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (USA) and is the Australian Affiliate for Theatrical Intimacy Education (USA). She originally trained as a Theatre Practitioner at the University of Western Sydney with a major in intercultural performance and went on to complete her Diploma Acting with Ensemble Studios. As a director, Shondelle completed her Masters of Directing at VCA, specialising in immersive theatre for neurologically and physically divergent audiences and their families. She also spent 20 years as an educator and support worker for people with neurological and physical divergency. Shondelle’s work as an actor, choreographer, Intimacy director/ Coordinator and educator over the past twenty years has ranged across mainstage and independent theatre companies, commercials and screen. Her focus is on inclusion, accessibility and knowledge sharing. She has worked with Australia's leading theatre companies including Opera Australia, Monkey Baa, CDP, Teg Dainty, Ensemble Theatre, Force Majeure, Pacific Opera, Ensemble Theatre, The Darlinghurst Theatre Company, NIDA, David Venn Productions, Squabbalogic, Gordon Frost, Disney, The Really Useful Company, NewTheatricals, New Ghost Theatre Company, Mad March Hare Theatre Company, Redline Productions. She also leads workshops at NIDA, the Actors Centre, Sydney Actors School, JMC Academy and AFTRS, In 2019, Shondelle was in the UK working with Bamboozle Theatre Company as a Directing Fellow studying the intersection of storytelling with and for divergent artists and audiences. This was enabled, thanks to the generosity of the Mike Walsh Fellowship. She was also a directing fellow with Ping Chong and Company during their Alaskan tour of ALAXSXA/ ALASKA, a theatrical collage of multimedia, puppetry, and central Yup'ik drum and dance illuminating striking moments of cross cultural encounters in the epic changing landscapes of Alaska. Shondelle's focus was on the intersection of inclusion, access and community storytelling. She was the Access Coordinator (with director Charlotte Evans and Entropico,) for the NSW Governments latest series of ads on non-violent forms of coercion. Shondelle was also the IC and AC for Modhi Bodhi's TIKTOK series, 'I'm Dying inside' and IC on Masterfoods latest campaign 'Matched at First Spice.' Shondelle's bespoke workshops and professional developments on consent mechanics and improvised play are also available for K-12 students and Higher education Institutions.
